S01E28 Shopping Cart Saviour

Transcript

<Intro music>

Hi, you’re listening to Alabaster Jars.

I’m Bernice and the title of today’s reading is “Shopping Cart Saviour”

The key verse for today is from John chapter 15 verse 16

It says, (pause) “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you

 might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.”

The rain was drizzling ever so slightly when I arrived at the local grocery store. Right in the middle of the parking lot was a wet shopping cart. No one likes to begin shopping with a wet cart and I’m no different. Having been to this store so many times, I knew I’d find a nice, dry cart inside the store.

So, I don’t know why I was drawn to this lone cart glistening from the shower of rain. To use it would mean getting my hands and groceries wet and possibly my clothes too. Strangely, I felt good using the wet cart!

As I pushed the cart around, I thought of how there was absolutely nothing I can do to deserve God’s merit and favor. He chose me. Even though His love for me would mean His blood and death, He still chose me.

I was like the wet shopping cart. He found me unwanted and alone, and brought me into His grace.

He filled my heart to overflowing with more love and mercy than I could ever imagine or understand. Then He guided me ever so gently through the knowledge of His Word and set my feet upon a sure foundation.

Take a moment to think about how very much God loves you! What unique gifts and talents has He given you? How has He created you just a bit differently from someone else? Thank Him that you are, indeed, fearfully and wonderfully made! Thank Him for taking the time out of His extremely busy schedule of running the entire universe, to create you just for His glory and good pleasure! Then decide that today you will keep your mind on positive and wonderful thoughts and give Him the highest praise.
